Couldn't you blokes in the west band together and hire a bus and make a trip over to Adelaide or even Melbourne. Probably cheaper for you guys to do this than a whole bunch of distributers having to hire transport companies etc..

On second thoughts don't...I've just had a mental image of a whole bunch of you on the same bus for three days.( sort of a cross between pricilla and pirates of the caribean).

And we'd need two buses to get all our loot home ... and a semi-trailer to carry the heavy stuff

Well Neils response to this thread slipped by me Nothing unusual with that I think most would agree

BUT!!.. Having had stopers over for a few hours the other week and he pretty much covering what Neils stated above... 2 man/woman team lost time lost money lost lots of stuff... along with the distance thing (although I wasnt aware of the T mobs involvement) and I am quite surprised at the perceived attitudes of us sandgropers re buying or rather lack of doing so and I will admit a tad ashamed if thats so... its a bloody big effort to do the roadshow thing and a bit of appreciation is a good thing people! I think if I recall Neil you said something about the accomadation issue awhile back on another thread but I dont recall how that was set up or by who anyway from one sandgroper I just want you to know that I personally reckon thats bloody APPALLING!! Not a flamin wonder you dont want to come back

Anyways... stoppers put me on the right track and although I stand by what Ive said previously about perhaps combining with some other small operator and doing your own stall rather than sharing with the T mob having a mob of forumites willing to ACTUALLY stand up and put body where gob is and support by helping out would work... the financial loss/benefit is one of the overriding factors in things like this so I fully understand Ubeuts stance no worries

As to the parochial thing... well... I admit to being much like that but tend to handball that view back to the eastern staters!!... yep if they would drop the ruddy imaginary line at the friggin boarder caper and just accept that we are a part of this country and not just a good source of a) tax (we do support the rest of the country you know with all the mining goin on) and b) AFL footy players (yous mob KNOW we have the best footy players over here and have done for years!!) and finally that we have c) the best women in the country well things would be peachy But yous mob wont so we get a tad parochial and then its all our fault ah well weve always supported yous mob

Hey Johnno? Did stoppers call by and say gidday?

    Default Always another angle....what if

Instead of doing the road trip...we offer to demo their wares.... free of charge....I'm definitely going to demo FESTO sander....
as it my suggestion...first in first served....
Lets just be brazen & say send all the gear...over....we'll demo & send home...return address not needed....our contact number....not given....

Well looks like I have to start saving now for a few years....it's not the cost of coming over....its the bloody price of all the drinks on the way that will hurt.........specially if its stop at each bar we pass....& who said leave the misses behind....your going to be chopped into little pieces for that one!

Somehow... I don't think we can entice them over...so looks like we just have to find better way to tackle the sellers over here...perhaps thats it.... lets take the sellers to a few cellers before they sell there wares....

I'll drive the bus for that!

LOL........keep thinking of those idea's Dingo...
Yippy sander is fixed...bringing it home tomorrow.......you will see the dust from down south.....bye KEKEMO
Don't think you're playing it safe by walking in the middle of the road.....that's the surest way to get hit by traffic coming from both ways!
I'm passionate about woodwork.......making Sawdust again & loving it!

gee...wondering...do you think they might like a lady to demonstrate.....nah...they might think I could only hit them on the head with the tools...sorry better use for them than trying to flog a dead horse!
They do actually sometimes have a Women in Wood stand - I know 'cause I was one of their turners a few years back!!! Had been turning all of about 5 mins and to go there and be watched by people who had been turning for longer than I've been alive was a bit scarey!!! Still, I stuck to my guns and turned my pens with my big ol' roughing gouge and detail gouge and ignored the 'could you get a bigger tool luv' comments!! Must be the tough rhino hide from teaching teenagers!!

    Woodshows rock!
