    Default Bandsaw sled?

Yeterday I discovered I had made a batch of small tenons a couple of milemetres too long. Simple fix, just set the fence on the bandsaw and dock off the bits using the mitre gauge. I soon discovered that the little bits were carried down through the hole in the bandsaw insert, some pinged off into the shed but one bit jammed between my blade and the roller guides and brought my saw to an abrupt halt. The width of the hole in the insert is about 10mm wide to allow for clearance during table tilt.

My thought is to make a docking sled using the mitre gauge slot. This will have minimum clearance for the blade and will stop offcuts dropping through into the works. Before I go ahead does anyone have any suggestions or comments please.

I've just finished making a removable larger table top ( 600*700mm) for my bandsaw (still have to make a new fence for it) which has a zero clearance which works very well.
