    Default Bandsaw tuning/improvements

    Hi all,

I picked up a BAS-350 bandsaw from the Canberra Working With Wood Show and am looking to check other user experiences with improvements.

I have done a bit of web searching and come up with a list of possible improvements and look for some input.

    1. ceramic blade guides - review of the ceramic guide blocks for bandsaws at http://www.onlinetoolreviews.com/rev...uideblocks.htm

from a couple of US sites run by private individuals the following products have been recommended

    2. blade tuning stone http://www.rockler.com/ecom7/product...&sku=5186&cs=1

    3. quick saw blade tensioner http://www.tools-for-woodworking.com...OD&ProdID=1299

I dont know if there are any Australian suppliers for these last two items.

    Would welcome any input

    Cheers

Item 2) any cheap sharpening 'stone' can be used, its all in the technique. The 'commercial' item is just a pocket slipstone glued to a bit of wood for which they charge you extra $$$.

As you may have found. item 1 is available here in Oz, as well as lots of online shops. I got 'cool blocks' supplied with my saw, but I have a set of ceramic blocks ready for when they wear out.

As for Item 3 - the quick adjuster - you are talking about the crank-thingy, not the lever quick-on, quick-off doover? There was a thread a while ago somewhere here where one of the lads made his own from some coupler nuts (extra long nuts), some threaded rod and a threaded knob/handwheel.

The lever operated doover came ready installed on my Delta bandsaw, so I haven't looked too far for one.

The folks at Highland Hardware will really knock themselves out trying to help you, and they have a bunch of good 'excessories' for your bandsaw.
