    Default Moving Table

Is there such a thing as a moving table on a bandsaw? Has anyone made or used one?

I do lapidary and there to cut a rock you clamp it to a table, then move the table to cut the stone.

Seems to me such an idea could be useful on a bandsaw (provided of course the blade tracks straight). It would push the wood through straight, and would certainly be kinder on fingers, as there is less need to put your hands anywhere near the Blade. The table/wood could even be pulled through the blade with a small weight attached to the back of the moving table.

This would also do away with a fence, and the resultant jamming that can happen when the wood parts after going through the blade.

Just and idea - any comments?

Have you considered making a sled similar to a table saw sled. My bandsaw has two mitre slots. If yours does you could get some of the plastic chopping boards and cut them up for the runners. Attach them to a bit of ply and Bob's your uncle*.

    * I don't know if you have an Uncle Bob. Doing this might help you to get one. I used to have an Uncle Bob but he's dead now.

Good idea Grunt - unfortunately my slot runs at right angles to the direction of feed - its used for the fence.

I might be able to make something that wraps over the edge of the table.

    Thanks
