    Default Record no.4 hand plane

This is a fully restored functional hand plane record no.4, I restored it myself. The sole is flat like you would find on a modern premium plane where not even the thickness of a receipt from 7-11 can creep it's way underneath the sole. I tested it on a marble stone which serves as my top on my dedicated sharpening bench. I polished all the brass and all the contact points on the frog and body of the plane, the chipbreaker was in excellent condition so only a light touch up was done there. I lubricated all the screws as well. Unfortunately all of the nickel plating is gone on the lever cap iron but that is only aesthetics. I've also flattened the blade and sharpened it with a slight camber for smoothing so it's ready to go out of the box. This is a good functioning plane that will serve it's intended function.

I've restored this plane because it's something I like to do in my spare time, I'm not after profits hence why the price is low. I have enough planes to suffice my woodworking needs. This is a vintage plane but which year I am unsure about, pre WWII planes the handles and knobs were made on select Rosewood and post war models were made of beech and late 1990's models were made of impact resistant resin, or plastic.) Lever caps and small screws were nickel plated on early models. A brass screw replaced the cam lever in 1995.

It is hard to to tell whether the handle and knob on this model are rosewood or just beech but I am inclined to believe it is Beech by examining the pores of the grain but I could be mistaken. Like I said above the early models were nickel plated and I know this one was and there is no brass screw for the cam lever which definitely isn't a 90's model. So I'm inclined to think it could be anywhere from the 1940's to late 1960's it could even be a 70's model I really don't know but I am sure it isn't any later than that.

All in all the price is cheap for a plane in this condition and it planes very nicely in deed.

This is not an auction I really wish he fix this but my asking price is only $45 plus actual shipping costs.
