That particular seller always asks mega money for his stuff. If I had been more adventurous I would have bid higher on that machine, but as Pete says, it is costly as hell to get stuff out of anywhere, then criminally expensive to land here.

I am just about to go impoverish myself at the docks right now in fact.

WRT the asking price on the 102...given exchange rates and shipping, he isn't making a great return despite the sale price. It looks like he is trying to cash in on the accessories though.

Just to make you feel better El Gregor, I was just to go to the docks myself, but alas it got cancelled at the last minute... Lucky for me due to the late cancellation, I get full pay for what I did not do, and get to do it tonight and get paid again....

Now lets here no more about the high costs on the au docks, some think it OK...

At least you put some of your ill gotten gains to a worthwhile cause and or use, unlike the pollies latest little foray into self indulgence all financed by the public purse.,

Better to have your own high quality water based stuff than rely on their generosity in using old and hardened grease off of the crane cable, though. They charge extra even for that.

I love the docks. So many ways to rort a system. Pity is that I'm no longer on the inside looking out. However, there's hope.

I am sure you could have bought some dockside.... With the usual normal dockside markup of course...

Remember you don't just roll up to the auction site with your trailer and say "chuck 'er on mate!". Even local rigging can be very expensive. But what would I know.

Having said all that, if he sells it at the asking price he won't be starving for the week! He's always pricing things very expensively.

fyi we bring machines into both NZ and Australia. NZ works out nearly half the price to import I to ! In Australia there is waaaay too many frieght forwarding/ customs charges.

Oh is that right. Wow! All I know about the NZ side of things is their bi-annual headline story about a snake being seen slithering away from a container loaded in Oz. Of course this causes great panic amongst the locals as they fear another repeat of the possum plague, this time with snakes hiding in every nook and cranny.

I can't say I'm surprised it's cheaper there however, only because it surely couldn't be any more expensive than Oz!

In defence, I must say I've been in to the Qantas freight shed when I've been importing things through air freight. While the fees and rorts are more under control, the work ethic seems consistent. Glacial movement in other words.

Brace yourself Shed. I was surprised when I saw a photo of the drilling jig in a workshop context some months back. Stunning bit of gear but I imagine the shipping cost would be stunning to match.

Just a heads up emachinery in Adelaide is wrecking a turret milling machine...

The turret head and overarm are already sold to a handsome young chap but AFAIK the rest is still available.....

Table would probably be useful to someone.. Plus it has a power feed that someone may find handy...

    Yes, Jack Whitely.
A while after I purchased the Hercus 260 from him, & we were discussing business in Australia generally, etc he mentioned to me that his business would close as he had "terminal cancer"
It eventually got him. There was a heap of beaut stuff sold off after the business closed.
    regards
