Well I like the color better, and the two tone effect with the faceplate, but still .

At least the paint doesnt look as thick.... ok its is a bit of a worry when that is a good point!

It has a strange looking compound slide

Well it's not going to rust in a hurry.

The worst that can happen is you will fail.
    But at least you tried.

Of course, the tricky bit is going to be finding a piece of material with the bend in exactly the right place...

    Default Douglas shaper - Cootamundra

Douglas shaper. Can't imagine there would be a huge amount of interest given it's in a school newsletter, so it is perhaps a good opportunity for someone to get a cheap one. See page 6.

When I did the last TIG course there earlier this year they had a lot of Miller inverters which I don't see in that link, I wonder if they are to be sold at a subsequent auction?
Some of the older welders had certainly seen better days (like us ) but the Miller inverters were quite new and hadn't yet been ravaged by the apprentices.

I doubt it. I was at the new building site this afternoon. They are more likely to move all newly acquired assets 3kms down the road to Tonsley. The new facility is going to look spiffy

I had something similar - Taiwanese, probably mid 70's. Top speed around 1000 rpm?
Not rigid enough to really work carbide, but a nice lathe for general work.
