    Default Capstan Lathe

I like the Ward Capstan Lathe, if only I could find enough work for it.

It is always interesting to see different perspectives on what constitutes a "big" machine...

Like the above radial drill, is really probably only a medium size one in the grand scheme of things...

This for example is an Asquith OD4, which AFAIK was the biggest Asquith made Used Asquith OD4 10ft Radial Drill For Sale! - YouTube

You can be sure bigger ones were made in the world, in the US or Russia, most likely...

Lot of stuff here.... I would say a lot of machines have been pre sold.... Given the numbers of tables and jib cranes in the auction and the small number of machines and nothing CNC... Got till 17th January for collection as well

Be interesting to see what that Emco Maximat 11 sells for. They're nice machines, I have one, but I'd want to take a close look at that one before spending serious money. One of the headstock gear shift levers for speed selection is definitely not in its correct place. Also that has the DIN spindle, same as a D1-3 in taper size/angle but uses 3 studs to retain the chuck and almost certainly 25mm spindle bore. Same as mine. The later models went to D1-4 and had 35mm spindle bores.

No tooling other than the 3 jaw chuck. Doesn't say if it's metric or inch, they made both.

It's 415V and has a 2 speed motor with complicated wiring so expect serious aggravation getting it to work on single phase....

    Interesting a Kirby Nuttall lathe..

1x Nuttall Centrelathe | Miscellaneous Goods | Gumtree Australia Bankstown Area - Revesby | 1034517846

I surmise The James N Kirby engineering company bought out Nuttall and this was the last gasp of Nuttall lathes...

Also the seller has a few gear cutting machines for sale...

On the subject of Grays, does anyone else get emails from them letting you know of upcoming auctions? I get them but half the time the auctions are already finished. I got one this morning that had 3 "you may be interested in" links, one which finished on the 12/12 (the one that the drill press mentioned above was sold in) and 2 ending on the 16/12....W T F

Its sure is Michael, as much as the Holstebro temps me i'd rather have something with a power feed.

This is an interesting unit, not sure that i would buy it, and certainly not for the price, but interesting enough to put here i reckon.
