Kiri for Keel
So after much searching for Oregen to build the fin for my keel I have pretty much given up. New it's just too damn expensive and second hand it will be brittle (apparently).
So I'm looking at Kiri. This will pretty much only be a core, 60mm x 600mm made out of 30mm x 150mm planks glued in a brick pattern for strength. It will then have two layers of 200gsm carbon then a layer 1050gsm triaxial. It will have an unsupported length of about 1500mm with a 200kg bulb on the bottom.
After much reading people have been sayin Kiri is close to WRC, maybe a bit softer, but I can't see that being a problem.
Thoughts???
Cheers,
Mez

Might I suggest that you consider Hoop Pine instead of Kiri. Hoop Pine is about the same air dry density and strength as Oregon and is readily available for not much money.

It might be OK, but Harold is right that Hoop pine is a closer match. I would check with the designer.
