The new stemhead fitting
Hi All,
I've fitted my new stemhead fitting on the Hartley (thanks Papa). I've still got a bit of tidying up to do, so excuse the mess.
This has allowed me to rig up the roller furler, rig up an easy method of raising and lowering the mast single handed and clears the cabin of a lot of lines. I've also run the jib halyard outside of the mast so that I can fit some mast head bouyancy.
The roller furler works ok, but is a bit too small for the sail I have on there at the moment. I have yet to try it in anything other than a light wind and think it may well jam with the sail out if there is too much pressure on it.Sonata 6

Solid bit of kit. It's interesting to see how people's boats evolve with their particular patterns of use. I'd be very interested to hear about your plans for mast head buoyancy. Does it involve Bloater fish? Seriously, apart from getting halyards out of the way, what's involved?
I enjoyed reading your blog BTW keep up the adventures
Incidentally, that looks like a lovely boat-friendly place to beach.

After twenty odd years in a box in the attic, it looks good doing what
it was made to do!
Glad I could help.
