Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions. They all have something to offer in one way or another. However the boat that ticks the most boxes, and is "substantial", at this stage looks to be the Selway Fisher "Able". I have some study plans coming so will advise further when I have had a good look.

PAR - you need a website or at least an online catalogue of plans somewhere!

    Cheers, Cameron.

    Hello Cameron

Able is a nice looking boat, in fact, looks a bit like a bigger Puffin - a puffed up Puffin perhaps

Before I decided on the Goat, Campion Boats had a couple of designs that interested me. Interestingly, they have rig variations which is great. Quite successful RAID boats too.

Yes, couple of good lookers there too.

I like the Apple with the gaff cutter rig.

    Cheers, Cameron.

    Hi Cameron,

Have you thought about Vivier's Ebihen 15/16? Pretty substantial boat and good looking too.

    Andrew,

Yes, Vivier's Ebihen 16 is definitely on the list of possibilities and in fact was one of the first desgins I looked at. I especially like it with the gaff cutter rig.

I have just recieved a set of study plans for Paul Fisher's "Able" and have sent a few questions back to Paul. Still can't really decide if it is this one or the Ebihen I will go for, but one way or another will contact you shortly for a good deal on a heap of plywood.

    Cheers, Cameron.

PS - came to see you at the ABWF but you were tied up with other people. Did had a chat with one of your guys though. The Bayraiders on display were sensational.
