New bed
Just thought I would post some pics of my newly made bed, the old one was starting to fall apart, mostly through poor workmanship, (My first attempt at wood work, I dowled it and as you can imagine, with a bit of movement it is falling apart, hence the new one)
It is made of Blackbutt, bloody hard timber, pinched the design from a bed shop, the joints are morice and tenoned, so should put up with some movement, lol.
I liked the rods holding the bed head, they are solid stainless steel, al I have to do next is make the bedsides.

Nice work!
Did you get the inspiration from somewhere? It looks vaguely familiar, I can't place it though....
What's with the 2002 date on the camera? You guys are behind the times over there, but I didn't realise it was five years!!

I wish I could say that I thought of the design, but I saw one in the bed shop '40 winks' I think it is called 'celeste' but now its called 'mine lol.

In regards to the camera, it was purchased from WA, probably explains the time lapse.

I like the style.
The space between the headboard and the legs makes it look lighter.
How did you get that colour on the blackbutt?Scally

Thanks guys
I am really happy with it, as you said scally the gap makes it look lighter, the colour came from it being lacquered, no stain or anything.whale oil beef hooked

Very nice work indeed - I too made a toddler bed from old growth Blackbutt that had air dried over a number of hears and it was rock hard. That rich honey colouring comes from it's age, the newer plantation material is very light but will darken up on exposure.
