birthday present
Hi . Made this jewellery box for my wife's birthday, won't mention her age.
Myrtle burl for the lid and sides with huon pine and red gum trim. first time I have tried veneering, had a couple of problems with glue seeping through the veneer.
It was well received
cheers Nine Fingers.

Well done, thats a quality box you've made and your wife must be very pleased.
What glue did you use for veneering? and what is the finish, looks like maybe Danish oil?I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

Hi martrix, I only used PVA to glue the veneer on to the MDF base.
My pet hate is applying finishes of any description,I try and get a reasonable finnish the easiest way possible. I used pressure pack can of polyurethene, wet rubbed back and buffed up with wax.
cheers Nine Fingers.

Bloody beautiful box Nine fingers! Love it
. Looks like you put as much time in on the internals as the box itself too - good to see.

Superb box, nine fingers. I'm amazed such a simple finishing procedure came up so well.
What substrate did you use for the veneering? The sides look mitred: are they reinforced at all? Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.
