DRB's by Order.....
Well..... SWMBO said "I want 2 Dunny Roll Boxes for the guest & downstairs bathrooms...... NOW if not SOONER!!!
Being a man who is not intimidated easily  ........ I got straight to work.
Some Silver Ash & Red Cedar fell to hand for the first one & New Guinea Rosewood & Red Cedar for the second one. Each box holds 6 dunny rolls. Both were finished with 30% gloss lacquer.

a dunny roll holder is for magazines that are rolled up and stored in boxes for easy reference - generally in places where they dont get used often (such as a toilet out the back room...)

Dunny roll: bog roll, bum wrap, dunny wrap
Does that help?"I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to."

Ignore those last two cretins. Dunny rolls are toilet paper rolls to wipe your posterier.

Hi Major,
Nice work, I'm also interested in finding out about the finish - did you use NC or precat lacquer ? What brand ? Did you apply it with a gun ? Anything special in terms of sealer, or rubbing between coats or after the final coat ?
Cheers,
Justin.

I used Mirotone NC lacqure (3210/30) 30% gloss with about 7% Mirosol 1297 thiner/retarder for good flow. It was applied with a Star 770 gun @ aprox 22 psi. There was no sanding sealer used and each coat was hand rubbed with 280, 400 grit & 0000 steel wool. 3 coats were used, the first coat was a light sealer & the following coats were full wet coats, the final coat is untouched & is as you see it on the finished article.
I hope this helps!

Thanks heaps for the explanation Major, I'm planning to take the plunge with using lacquer and am doing what research I can on the difference between NC and precat varieties. I haven't gotten around to visiting Mirotone's office here in Melbourne, but it's on the to-do list during my travels.
Cheers,
Justin.
P.S nice grain selection on the material.
