Fitting out a study for the Mother in Law
I have just recently fitted out my mother in laws office with a desk and an in built cabinet. All built from recycled Tasmanian Oak and the like ( except the melamine cabinets) from Timber Zoo in Geelong Victoria. Love job but i learnt an awful lot about timber selection, joinery and finishing. i must say although i am technically going to visit the Mother in Law i do pop my head into the study for a quick catch up

Nice work, Colbaby, that recycled tassie oak looks great, so much better than all the poly/melamine/veneer we see so much of these days.
The time we enjoy wasting is not wasted time.

Dangerous territory...putting a comment about high cost when crafting something for a mother-in-law
Good job though, to recycle.

Love that desk, nicely designed with great proportions. What kind of finish did you use?

Thanks Justin, I put a sanding sealer, and a colour reduced stain with a wipe on poly over the top. Simple and clean. The design was very similar to one I saw in a issue of the wood review.

Really nice going. How long did it take you to complete?
