what is stringing? does that mean the inlay or the strips next to it? It is jarrah burl with 3mm marri stips next to it

There does seem to be something a bit fishy here Al. This person is producing work that 50 year old full time craftsmen would be proud to turn out.

Notice the pile of timber and the machinery in the picture.

It looks very good Leigh except for the wane on the front edge of the top unless you intend to distress it.
It may be the photo or the light but I think you should consider undertaking a lttle tuition in finishing.
Please accept these points as constructive critiscm.

Thanks Leigh, thought it was some sort of burl between the Marri. Like Echidna, I'm not sure about the wane, but I think you'd need to see the whole piece, not just a photo. In any case, it's a matter of taste. What a boring place it would be if we all liked the same thing!

Very nice work - keep at it. Looks as though you are very fortunate to have a good teacher also.
It must give you great satisfaction to produce items such as those you have displayed.

what is the "wane" on the front edge? i havent finished spraying it yet. only 2 coats.
The machinery isnt mine its someone i know who works by himself fulltime cabinetmaking and he lets me build stuff there and i help him build stuff.
