Necklace stands
Hi there
One for the girls here....
I got sick of having necklaces wrapped around each other and twisted up, so I made a simple A frame necklace stand to house the "junky jewellery". It's just some offcuts and dowel and I tell ya, it's so much easier to find a matching necklace when you want it (and see at a glance which ones your sister has nicked!).
My sister then spied the idea and said she "absolutely needed one" too, so I set about making one for her. Decided to try out Rocker's joinery (after seeing the Z joint in action at Biting Midge's place last year). Slightly different design in that the dowel ends are not exposed like the A frame one, but I think it works better with the Z shape. The dowel came from Reverse Garbage in West End.
Cheers
Danielle

... I don't remember seeing the tractor seat stools in the background on a post? Or is my usually steel trap like mind having a day off??
See how I avoid talking girly stuff?
Nice one again chap and chapesse!
Cheers,
P (Tom, another way to fix the problem is to stop her buying jewelry - works for me!)

When I first saw it I thought of something 300mm odd high and I could make them for my next round of Xmas gifts for my sisters & nieces. But seeing the stool, it's quite large, so maybe not. It looks good, well done.
Good grief your've got some necklaces Dan, or are some Tom'sNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

There just something about z-joinery...love it.
What about a version with free-ended dowels, so you could hang the necklace on the dowel instead of draping it over the top (if you know what I mean)? Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

Nicely executed Danielle - you could sell those to many a retailer methinks, if you could be bothered to do so, that is.

Ducking for cover..........

And my sister loved her Z, gave it to her last night. Put my foot in it though and now have to make another for my other sister...
Auld Bassoon, go for it! I lose the passion and the patience when it goes into production type pieces. They would be a good idea though for some boutique type places, as the Z shape is quite sturdy (better than the A).

Hi PTC
No it doesn't - it is stable enough without the dowels, but for continuity of design, I think the dowels at the bottom look more visually appealing.
Cheers
