    Default Q&D Outdoor Kids Table

SWMBO picked up an old round pedestal dining table and asked me to convert it into a large kids height table for here family daycare.

It's all screw and glue except for the halflap joint at the bottom. The post is set into a 15mm recess in the feet and then secured with a high dowel and some 100mm screws. Seems strong enough.

All made from a heap of discarded unworkable karri tat I've got lying around. Only good for glue&screw.
    Cheers,

    Adam

I dont think so, It's a pretty wide plat form at the bottom. We wont be takng any chances with other peoples kids. I'll go and put a 40kg weight on the very edge.......

    Update,

The bloody thing start to wobble. Not an isntant joint failure but the 1inch dowel joint and 4x100mm screws didnt stay together. If you have a close look at the photo I've only recessed the ost 10mm into the half-lapped legs.

A few intimate hours with a ryoba and a 1inch chisel and the post has a nice recess which the half-lap base slots into perfectly. I also added adjustable feet which screw into T-Nuts. All seems as solid as a rock now.
    Cheers,

    Adam

Nice looking table...but it is missing one thing

Where are the "I" hooks that should be screwed in the the lags. You need some thing the chain the little buggers to so thay dont go amuck on you and run all over the place
