New member - a recent project
Gday all,
Been sitting back reading this forum for a number of months now, so I thought I'd put a couple of pics up of a recent project. I have been framing mirrors for quite a while now, making them for friends and family. Most of them have not been overly big so this project was a little different. The wife said she wanted a big mirror, the bigger the better. Overall size is 1500 x 1400. I didn't want to spend a fortune on timber, in case it went wrong as this was the first decent sized one, so I went for Merbau decking boards (140 x 25). All cut and routed on the Triton gear. Came up all right I suppose, allthough it is pretty heavy to lift.

Good work krico.
The mirrors have chamfered edges - do you order a size you want or just get standard size glass mirrors and work from there?
Also the mitres - are biscuit joined?
Hang it well you don't want umteen years bad luckCheers

Thanks for the comments.
I have been just getting old dressing table mirrors and the like and work from there. Plus it is pretty easy to cut them if someone wants a specific size. I picked this mirror up at a garage sale for $5. Bargain. Mitres are biscuit joined then screwed aswell using the Kreg Pocket Hole jigs, just for the extra security. Backing board was cut bigger than mirror so it has been glued and stapled to the frame aswell to hold it all together. It is pretty heavy so I wanted to make sure it was going to stay together under the weight.
