Wendy as a matter of fact I was talking on Monday with the Coordinator of the Mens shed (where I do voluntary work) who bought a set of plans to make some chairs 5 years ago and still hasn't got around to it.
He has the plans for the footstool as well so I'm thinking of making it as a project there when I go back with the help of some of the guys I work with.
This Mens swhed is set up to help old people and/or people with disabilities to learn and use new skills so it might be a bit better then making toys.

I love the Adirondack chair look.
I just need to convince SWMBO that she likes it too.
I think surgery as a reason to do a project that I want is a little higher price than I am prepared to pay!Cheers

The chair is finished. It now has two top coats and is sitting in the garden. It is a comfortable chair so I have started making another (and maybe another as well as my daughter likes to have one) to go with it.
Here are the final pics.

Looks fantastic Peter, and looks very comfortable.
With the low seat, I've found footstool isn't really needed, and takes up a lot of space.
Looking forward to seeing the companion.

I've made the second chair which is now ready for painting and I've started on the third one to complete the set. Cut and rounded over the main parts of the frame and built the back rest today.
Although they look difficult and complicated to make actually they are very easy, especially once you've done one.

Nice work Sturdee.
I wish I could go slowly and finish a project in one week.
I like the look of the Adirondack chairs but wasn't sure if they would be comfortable. Another wasn't overkeen on the look of them.
Well, now I can add it to my To Do list.Scally

And now there is a set of them.
As one chair by itself is not enough I have made another two to go with my recovery chair.
I have looked at making the companion footstool (and downloaded a free plan) but don't think they are necessary as it is comfortable enough without it.
Some photos of the set standing in the backyard are attached.
