    Matt,

There is a good book by Jeff Miller called Chairmaking and Design. It is now out of print, but you could probably find a copy in a library or second-hand. His website is interesting too.

There is also a book called Best Seat in the House, by P. Dorman. I have not read this one, but it has been well reviewed.

I have a copy of 'Best Seat in the House.'
There is some general stuff & 4 plans for different styles & instructions how to build them.
I haven't attempted to follow any of them yet.

I also have 'Practical Design Solutions & Strategies' from Fine Woodworking Taunton Press. It has 2 chapters on chairs but no plans.

I also bought a set of plans for a table & chairs from Plans Now.
    http://www.plansnow.com/
They are a reprint of an article that appeared in the Woodsmith Magazine in 1998.
I haven't started building them but the plans look good.

Sorry Major, we hi-jacked your thread.

If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

    Major,

It's good to see you taking a leaf out of the old bitingmidge book of how to do things instantly! You aren't quite there yet, so I suggest you look for a few more diversions for the next year or two before pulling them out again!

    It looks fab-oh!

What did you light it with to take the pic?

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest too!

    cheers,

    P

You have my awe and respect, Major. Exceptional work! Seeing those chairs lined up around a table will make a stunning picture.

Very lovely and unique design. I wonder if the lumbar is a bit proud, Have you sat in them yet? I like them a LOT!!!

Can't wait to see the finished lot and the fancy table they accompany.

Thanks for the posting and keep up the progress.

I don't see any nail holes!

Very elegant chair Major. What type of finish do you intend for the seat?

    Chair looks great!!

Whats with the background? Is that night? Or a doctored image?

Looks bloody stunnin Major! Well done

I also wondered about that lumbar being a "tad" proud but figured well if he can take the arched back and consequent pain then who am I to quibble about it!
Believe me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!
