Travelling Perfumery.
This is part one of the Travelling Perfumery that a guy named Rob asked if interested parties could make recently. There are more modules to be added and some hardware as well. Wenge and Birds Eye Maple. Hard Burnishing Oil and Scandinavian Oil finish.
Should look OK.
Regards,
Rob

SO this is the next part. The two panels will be hinged together so they can be folded onto each other. The corners will be rounded to give an "art deco" sort of feel. The finis is HBO and Teak Oil (burnished). The BEM is stunning under burnished oil.

So here's a few more pics, as the project careens on and on....
Pic 1 and 2: The four units with their shelves and backs added Finish is Hard Burnishing Oil
Pic 3: One of the units ready to go to the Leather fella to get hinges made for the small cupboard that will be behind the panel at the bottom. I have used 1/8" finger joints on the front panels to match the 1/4" joints on the frame. The facade for the cupboard has no side panels, I just cut some finger joints and then trimmed them so that they showed to the front only.
The front of the cupboard will be attached to the lowest shelf above it. This could be by magnets or some other tricky method. This really is making me think!!
The two outer units will have cupboards and the two inner will have very small drawers. Should be able to show them tomorrow.

The units are now almost finished. The two outer ones have little drawers to store pipettes and such, the outer two have a pull down "door" to allow larger bottle to be stored.
There is a compartment, which is not obvious, which lies between the front of each panel and the front of the shelves, which allows literature to be stored.
The pics here show the four units standing together, then folded once, then folded back again to show how they would travel.
Still need to make the base and tidy up some loose ends. Also add the hinges and locks'
I bought good quality Cabinet Makers locks from www.gbrownantiques.com.au/pdfs/Liberon wholesale pricelist.pdf. They are much stronger than other box locks I have looked at and will need to be robust as the unit will be travelling frequently.

Rob

Nice work. Should be happy.

"If a man is after money, he's money mad; if he keeps it, he's a capitalist; if he spends it, he's a playboy; if he doesn't get it, he's a never-do-well; if he doesn't try to get it, he lacks ambition. If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Thanks Alex,
Its been a steep learning curve, but it's helped enormously in the lateral thinking department. I think when it's all done, though, it'll look pretty good.

Rob
