Finished
Well, that took a bit longer than I thought. Finish is U-Beaut White Shellac, then U-Beaut Traditional Wax. I love what the white shellac didn't do - the stringing really has maintained a nice contrast to the blackwood.

Not sure why the colour changes in the photos below. Clearly I'm not much of a photographer. The difference between the legs and aprons is noticeable, but not this much, same with the leaf.

The flash brings out imperfections I don't notice in the flesh. Guess that's why photographers never want a close up of me

I dips me lid to the master.Don't force it, use a bigger hammer.
Timber is what you use. Wood is what you burn.

An excellent job, well done!
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Great job Tex
I know WW has said he hasn't found a decent rule joint hinge for years, but where did you find yours and what did you think of them?
Again, great craft. Most worthy.

Thanks Jag.
Got the hinges from Graeme Brown Antiques. Downloaded the catalog, ordered by phone, arrived a few days later. They work fine, but they're the only ones I've ever used, so nothing to really compare them with. Service was great, though, and the catalog is a good read (if you like that sort of thing )
