1 only? Wonder who picked it up? Not me that's for sure.
Is granite becoming something of an albatross for these guys?
Okay it doesn't rust, or warp and it's slippery and heavy....... but you can't weld and grind it if it breaks or chips.
The less expensive version on the left seemed to be making smoother cuts than the helical head version on the right!
Yes Earlex were there. Maybe next year for me.
The Mag Switch roller feather board is something I'd love to use but it's not going to work on my router table without "modifications". Maybe in the Spring I'll pop for a couple of these.

Inside the Global Tools tent was busy even when it was fine outside.
I'm biased but for the money those King mitre saws are really good value. I like the slide mechanism way better than 90% of the others out there because it doesn't take up as much space behind the saw so you can mount it closer to the wall if you're mounting it semi-permanently like I plan to do with mine. The King at the bottom of the photo has the more common slide mechanism of course.
King, King and more King!
I almost caved and bought the one on the left. Almost....... for $350 for a 3hp unit flowing 1,200cfm it wasn't a bad deal but I have my eye on something even stronger.
Here's one extreme to the other with King.
As nice as this 8" spiral head King seems there's an 8" spiral head jointer calling my name in Muncie, Pa.! It's saying "Come to Muncie for a Grizzly!" Okay. I'm up for a drive.
The rain was just beginning to fall - thank heavens the hail stopped! - and the crowds were looking for shelter as I prepared to depart the 2009 version of the Woodstock Wood Show. All things being equal I'll be back in 2010.
Hope you've enjoyed the tour.

It's a very enjoyable show. That's one of the reasons why I drive that far with no real plans to buy much of anything. I had the pleasure of good company for the trip and we met with a bunch of fellow forumites at the show as well.
The chances of ever seeing any of the European machines at these shows is pretty low. The people who would be interested in them know who the specialist dealers are and they just don't bother with these shows. That's a pity in a way but understandable. Why would you spend all the money required to be at a three day show hundreds of kilometres from your showroom with multi-thousand dollar products that you know are simply not going to sell to the throngs in attendance?
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
He's an annoying fella let me tell you! He was set up right behind my friends Mary and Dave from The Saw Shop and you could hardly think for the noise he was making back there. At least Dave would drown him out when he fired up his demo saw and turned on his mic. The funny thing is I forgot to take photos of The Saw Shop's booth and these are my friends! Is it okay if I just bought some more of their products and leave it at that?
Unless we're visiting the wife's parents in November I doubt I'll be at the Ottawa show so the next one will be Hamilton in late January which I'm told will be pretty good. Then comes the other show on my regular schedule Kitchener-Waterloo in March. Woodstock in the Fall and K-W in the Spring for me. No way I'm going to the Toronto show in February again unless I hear from the Friday crowd that it is something special. So those will be my next show reports for you to look over. Maybe I should video some of them and put up a link to the tape on YouTube? We'll see.

Who is going to come to my place and clean up the mess?? I have just spent 10 minutes looking at the piccys and reading the commentary and have drooled all over the desk.
Thanks for the wonderful insight,

Yeah I walk around these shows thinking to myself "If only I had the space and the budget......" And it's not just the machinery either. In spite of some of the stock standing around in puddles the wood on sale tempts me every time. What the heck I'd use it for I don't know but there's some beautiful stuff available at times.
Thanks mate, my pleasure. I had a fun day out with a bunch of good people so why not share that with you lot. If you want to reciprocate I wouldn't say no! Especially the Brissie and Maleny shows. You never know who I might spot in the crowds!

Just thought I'd throw this in now that Gord has finished his video tour of the show. You'll recognise a lot of my photos in the video but there are also a bunch from another CWW forum member Blair that add to the overall feel of what the show was like. Enjoy.....

Good one, Expat. I'll have to get under the desk in the morning to reconnect the sound to my computer - It's been disconnected far too long and I've missed many informative posts.

Loved the look-see at your show.
Thanks for your time and trouble with all of the photos. Have had a look at some of Gord's episodes and will check out the rest later - I do have some work to do rather than just enjoy myself.
Regards and thanks,
Bob
