Gumby what if I used the term “part of the deal” instead of “complimentary”. Would you feel differently? In the restaurant we all pay for the business, we all pay for the service. Why do we get treated differently?

Sure we could have walked away as we did so many times before but ignoring it doesn’t make them right.

Would like to see how you react when you realise every table in the steak house get free garlic bread and salad except yours.

Mate, I'm with Craig on this. I eat chinese a lot and have never been offered a freebee or extras as part of the deal. I just can't see the point in your argument. That's all - not trying to be difficult. But it does come back to on e thing, don't go there if that's how you feel.

Mate I eat Chinese a lot more and I know what is going on. And no I am not over sensitive.

Fair enough, but it's still their call. If that's how they are then it's their loss. Don't give them the opportunity again.

I agree with Gumby. we eat at chinese heaps (not me and gumby:eek: ) and havnt been offered any freebies and it dosnt bother me because i dont go out to get them in the first place. and how would i know if the table beside me get them, i dont perv on what they eat. id say stop being so sensitive and move on. if you want free soup go to the salvos

I know what is going on. They only offer it you if you are Chinese or speak Chinese. Don’t you think it is wrong?

Sorry wongo, but i think my prob is im to layed back. I couldnt give a rats if someone got a freebie that i didnt, i couldnt care less. but having said that, ill probably be shot down for this, but it dose sound a little bit racist to me, but thats just mho

So we have something in common.

Friends remember this. MOST (not all) Chinese Seafood restaurants serve soup and fruit as part of the service, attraction, freebie or what whatever you call it. It costs them money to make so it will go to your bill.

When I say Chinese Seafood restaurant I mean a large restaurant with fish tanks. Not your little local Chinese take-away.

Point taken but if they dont have a fish tank can i still ask for some complimentry soup, and my local has a gold fish bowl on the counter , dose that count:confused:

If the restaurant gives or witholds freebies dependent on the race of its customers, it seems like an obnoxious and stupid policy to me. Do they really want to antagonize their non-Chinese customers? Maybe a threat to report them to the appropriate authority that deals with racial discrimination would make them see the error of their ways. Essentially they are making non-Chinese customers pay for the freebies that they hand out to their Chinese customers.
