    Thumbs down Just finished

watching Ben Elton Live from Planet Earth.

    What a load of crap.

I am not a prude but if this is the state of comedy now then I can understand why the younger generation have no sense of humour.

Give me the 2 Ronnies or Dave Allen any day.

    ,

Your owning up to watching it. The ads for it were enough to tell me not to watch it.

Yeah give me Dave Allen any day.

I'm with the rest of the old farts here

Also give me Love Thy Neighbour, Yes Minister, One Foot in the Grave, Dad's Army, Steptoe and Son, The Good Life, Are You Being Served?, Blackadder, Blackadder Goes Forth, Faulty Towers, The Goodies, Men Behaving Badly, Open All Hours, The Young Ones and Birds of a Feather, Robins Nest and whatever else I can't remember right now.

They were comedy, not canned laughter, not ... I must be a belligerent old fart when you had to get off the lounge to turn the tv channel, when people knew what comedy was, when...

    Hi ,
One thing is for certain - it won't last. It is not funny, it is not comedy. It is crass and was given short shrift here.

I saw about 30 seconds of it while changing channels, if the rest was as bad as that it will be gone real soon.

It seems it lost half its audience in an hour.

This thread reminds me of another old farts thread about " you know you are getting old when ..." )

I have not seen the show you mention but he's a funny guy and a really good author too. I read Blind Faith some time ago and really weird and interesting read.

I think you guys are showing your age again.

Don't try and go and see Will Anderson )

They should have put it on channel 10! I am interested to go and find it on Internet now to see what you guys are talking about - the preview was pretty funny.

Oh Jesus I have just read the reviews - damn it ben what have you done!

it looks like not even the younger generation were interested. I am a huge ben Elton fan and I think I don't want to watch it after the reviews I have read!

I like his books but it seems he's not done so well in this latest effort.

If he wrote it, then like every dog - they have their day.

Never been a fan of him personally, nor a lot of comedians that are around at the moment, one that comes to mind is Adam Hill who has his own show on Ch 2. Hopefully he gets booted and something worthwhile get put on in place of... but I'm an old fart.
