    Default haunted ute indercators?

so iv been having trouble with me indicators.

so about a month ago it all started.

the left indicator started flashing fast. checked all the lights and they were all still working. strange i thought.

then the light on the dash for teh right indicator went dull. it was almost to dull to see but other times it was fine.

then both teh rear indicators stopped working.

now no indicators are working, teh lights on teh dash arent working but it still clicks?

    any ideas?

Well I reckon it's either ghosts or bad connections. My guess is ghosts.

The problems didn't start with LED indicators did they? I'm pretty sure LEDs need a different flasher unit because of the lower current draw.

    carl,
I am totally into party mode at the present moment as tonight is my wifes birthday ( she was born on the stroke of midnight on new years eve some time ago) but I think the best plan might be to check the flasher unit before you go any further, i am also worried about the LED conversion, did this take place some where along the line while you were having this problem or did it start soon after you fitted the LED,s .
I will have to go back to the wassail department now but will try to keep abreast of your progress at intervals through the night. Happy new year and all the best for a long and prosperous future.
It's a beautiful moonlit night here in Brisbane and I hope the fire-works and revelry go safely and happily for all those who attend,
good luck and good fortune to all forum members

this problem strted over a month ago.

they stopped completely somewhere between 6 and 7am this morning.

i fited the LEDs this arvo at 4pm to replace teh broken tail/stop lights that were on it. teh whole units were plastic and it had perished and broken.

where would i find the flasher unit.

i am suposed to be going away on sunday for 3 weeks so hopefully i can track down the problem before then.

    carl
flasher unit may be under the dash, under the bonnet usually on the drivers side of the bulkhead, or in the steering column shroud, suggest you switch it on, and since it is apparently still clicking it should be easy enough to trace the sound to it's source. What make of car is it? I am familiar with the pommy car industry but if it was built elsewhere we might have to call in the appropriate experts from O/S.
The lucas flasher is a cylindrical unit about 65mm long and about 26mm diameter with a one hole right angled tag rivetted to the centre of one end and attached by a bolt or screw to the bulkhead or inner mudguard usually on the offside under the bonnet, the finish is usually unpolished aluminium (dull silver).

    Happy new year to all.

Another possibility is a loose earth connection. Check the lead from the battery to the chassis is not loose. Also check the battery itself is OK. Newer cars seem to loose some electrics before they stop cranking the engine.

If you have fitted LEDs,you will, more than likely have to fit a resister to the circuit to,so they don't flash at a gazillion beats a minute.

i think il concentrate on one problem at a time.

so i got teh flasher out.

a little black plug in thing. teh ones in teh other 2 rodeos are diferent so ill have to get a new one and see if that fits it.

why do they make it so you have to pull the vehicle apart to get to anything?
