    Default Bench dog type clamps

G'day all, been playing with this idea for a while and here are the results.

Started with axle type "U" brackets for the saw sled - I wanted to cut threads higher up up the shafts but it an impressed thread which couldn't be cut further. the pipe sections are pool fence scraps and the rubber feet are chair tips. They worked well on the saw sled so the next step was to make some for the bench. [I tried threaded rod to make others but the threaded rod I purchased fractured when I tried to bend it - on closer examination it appeared to be a hollow tube filled with some coarser material which just broke - I can only assume its country of origin ].

The black ones are for the bench and were bent and threaded for me by a good mate. Same principal except the leg which goes through the bench is longer and has a wing nut on it to set the depth of insertion. As my "work bench" is a 19mm plate on my trailer it has been necessary to screw some stud material under these dog holes to give better grip - those with thicker benches should not need to do this.

They work well, were cheap by comparison to commercial ideas, give me extra hands and should last me out.

    Regards,
    Bob

I also like the idea of the perspex protective shield at the end of the sled for when you have pushed it beyond the cut of the blade. That was always a scary thing looking at a spinning blade when I used to use a sled. Very nicely done.
I make things, I just take a long time.

Thanks for the replies - after 168 views and only 2 replies I was beginning to think that most thought it was a "crepe" idea.

That's how it goes I guess.
