I use a 4gallon drum on an ol' gas barbie. A wood fire'd do, but firewood's a rarity around here for some strange reason...
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Bending ply wood anit done with a steam machine....... There is however ( I am told) a special ply which can be curve in different planes. I would suggest a call to Duckflat Wooden Boats in SA, talk to Ted, he is not only a wooden boat nut but also a Revhead from way back and I am sure he would be able to point you i the right direction.

Not too sure about steam bending plywood however I used an electric steam box to bend the ribs on my keeler. I soldered a 100mm dia downpipe into the top of a 4 litre metal can and used it in the horozontal position. I opened up a hole in the lowest section of the can and put in an electric jug element to boil the water. Actually, I put the element in first otherwise one needs long and thin arms. I found that by plugging the end of the downpipe with an old towel to prevent the steam escaping the steam condensed back into water and kept replenishing the can. Using two laminations of
30 x 16 Karri for each rib it took about 20 minutes to cook up 8 laminations.
