Thread: Wearing Dovetail marking guide

I decided to use a free day on the weekend (SWMBO doing work for the school and the kids at the outlaws) to make a dovetail guide of the kind explained by [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Making-Woodwork-Devices-Robert-Wearing/dp/1861081294/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218427868&sr=1-8"]Bob Wearing[/ame] in his book of jigs and aids.

I didn't have any brass for the plate, so I made it out of aluminium - the marks on the surface show how soft it was before I started working it.

I made it 1:7 and will probably make a couple of others for other ratios that I use (1:6 and 1:8). The brass is a fence that enables the guide to be used to mark several pins or tails (as you prefer) at once.
