yep your assumption is correct geoff however the uk also use 240 v, so it isnt just australia, only site work is {supposed to be )110v
but i'm sure you are all correct in that festool are too smart (at ripping people off) to sell different models that could be exported, and in some cases, people could save some money.
transformers do suck, or at least the step down 240/110 v sold in the uk, very heavy and clunky.
