Camphor Laurel Box
This is my latest attempt at a hinged lidded box, made from Camphor Laurel, measurers six ins x five ins by two ins. An interesting project, I learnt a lot and hope to improve on the next one.
I was reading an article that mentioned a flocking gun (apparently used to apply flock). Can anyone enlighten me further.

Your box looks neat. What is the knob made from? What size bandsaw do you use?

Flocking is a system used to apply an acrylic fibre to another material, eg wood, cloth, paper and anything else that pva adhesive will adhere to. Sometimes a base coat of flat acrylic paint is applied first, them a pva adhesive is applied liberally, and while wet the flocking 'powder' is 'puffed' on liberally using a plastic bottle, (or flocking gun), with a small nozzle.
Some use a pva coloured to match the flocking.
Flocking kits can sometimes be bought at craft shops. I know Timbecon in Perth sell all that is needed.

I,ve seen a automotive touch up guy use flocking to repair dash and related areas. He brushed glue on the area and then had a small breath operated applicator which he blew into and using a venturi system it picked up the flock from it's bowl and applied it to the glue. It was very accurate and he just kept going over and over until he got the right finish.
