Spalted Maple and Cherry Box
This is one of my favorites. Been making boxes since last July and am loving every minute. Some of the wood was soft as balsa wood so I removed the soft wood with a dremel tool. I finished the box with danish oil and then buffed the box with carnuba wax.

A nice box, what type of timber is it?
I guess by now you are about ready to begin making your own designs, I look forward to seeing them on this Forum.

The front layer is spalted maple and the back is cherry. I've been trying some of my own designs as I get comfortable with what works and what doesn't. Thank you for the kinds words.

That looks lovely. These boxes are certainly a way to show off unusual peices of wood.

Great timber with fine finnish. Works well and looks great. Almost looks like the grain has been done with pen and ink.

Excellent
Very nice box. I like the laminated front, I have only laminated the draw fronts to get a good contrast between the draw and the body. I find it hard to come up with an original design and not be influenced by what others have aready done.
