    Default Have you tried...

With the pressure switch exposed try giving it a squirt with good old WD 40. My thinking is that it may be "dry" and a in need of a little lube.
Just a thought, and it could be a cheap fix

    Tanii51,

You might be right. I pulled the pressure switch apart, and as far as I can tell, the diaphram is about the only element that could be suspect. It looks to be fully intact, but who knows. Everything else appears to be functional. The 4 screws holding the whole thing together were not really tight, so maybe some air was escaping from the body.

Is there a safe gasket goo I could use when reassembling the pressure switch? It's just for a try before seeking out another switch. I am determined not to be beaten, famous last words!

For the sake of $30-$40 on EBAY there is no point wasting time on the compressor,Just order the part fit it onto your machine, turn the thing on and get back to work mate.!!! Well I feel good now for sugesting the pressure switch it makes me feel wanted, which don't happen round here any more.lol unless there is a spider on the wall and then its all Matt Matt Matt come kill this huge thing, that usually turnes out being the size of a small fly..lol

    Default Done & dusted

Thanks fellas for all your advice, the pressure switch is fixed.

The problem I'm sure was the diaphram, leaking air. After stripping, I reassembled it making sure the 4 fixing screws holding the upper part to the body, were tight.

I backed off the pressure adjusting screw and gently re-tightened it so that the compressor switches off at 100psi, and turns back on at 80psi. That should be high enough. At least now I know how they work.

No excuses now for not continuing with Hercus paint job.

    Ken
