Bob,
Well it's behind the door so doesn't that mean it gets indoor paint?
Honestly probably not, I doubt that I will bothered with repainting behind the covers, All the paint there seems to be in good order, plus I need to be able to leave a clue for next owner in 40 years time to know what the original colour was.
In the second photo; the one with the door open, you can see where I intend to put the VFD, inside that little compartment where the wires are coming out.
On another topic: I want to replace the sight glasses for the oil reservoirs, I'm after good suggestions for how to take them out and second where to find replacements, I suppose I could make some.... hmmm i'll think about that one.

Are they sight glasses or sight plastics Josh?
The vernier had plastics, mostly broken or so scuffed they couldn't be seen through. I got new ones from RS. They were standard BSP threads, 1" and 3/4" i think. The old ones had a pair of holes for pin spanners, the new ones had hex heads.
Ray tried to call before, but didn't answer when i called back, you road tripping tomorrow or not?

I had that problem with the Sajo as the mounting thread was something like M16x1.25(?) - non standard anyway. I ended up making the sight glasses out of steel and then using gasket goo "gluing" some glass discs into the front. I then used a paper hole punch, scissors and some mylar to make up a star shaped piece and mounted that in a shallow groove in the back of the steel.
Pictures and a sketch if you like. One advantage of the glass was that it does not discolour with age.

Thanks Michael,
I like the idea of proper glass. Since posting I have had a little bit of a look around online, Albert Kuhn have a nice range of stuff that is feeding me other tangential ideas, I stumbled on this idea which I don't mind telling that I plan to make one adapted to suit a Relaing M4.5 thread so that way I would only need one olier and one grease.. So simple I don't know I had not thought of it, thread the outside of a type K to fit a type D it must be a bit like the cat flap as it requires true genius to put a door in a door.

Apologies in advance for the quality - I'm not feeling 100% at the moment. You should be able to get the idea though.

Gee Josh - given the speed that the bearing cap was produced I expected to see finished product by now.
I have some Mylar film if you need some.
(Getting better thanks - one of those 24hr bugs that make you think you are going 1/4 speed)
