Sorry Wendy we are not schoolchildren. We say things as we see it and if that upsets some so be it. Moderators should deal with problems other than reprimanding members for stating the obvious. Why should we put up with rudeness from anyone including your offensive post? (to me it was)
Having a bad hair day is not exclusive to the female species and while I feel he got a serve he has now realised it and is acting accordingly and may well become a regular here.
Rudeness becomes no one. I will wait for your appology

Settle folks. I don't really see the issue other than someone had a problem and asked a question.
I don't think being a newbie to a particular forum as an excuse to treat them differently.
So if I post a thread in one of the wood work forums but am only active in the metal working ones does that mean I will get smashed as well for this apparent rudeness.
Seems some of the comments here have been nothing more than unhelpful and the poster might have been better thinking before they opened their keyboards.
However to get back on track.
Madkap.....you do realise you have to drill a hole for something to cut an internal thread?
That is what the TAP part of a tap and die set does.
You need specific drill sizes to match the specific tap and there is an allowance used for drill size. IE for BA taps they generally run around 65% thread engagement. The % of thread engagement differs for various metal types and thread types. Best to do some searches for thread charts or get a Model engineers Handbook (by Tubal Caine) or Machinery HandbookCheers

Do I get the feeling that we have some POMMIE haters here - can I claim racism here having been one?. I thought part of having a forum was to ask questions without feeling intimidated? I didn't feel that Madkap was rude in what he asked
you didn't have to answer the question, instead you chose to chew the person's ears off. Well if you don't like it then DON'T answer it.
The thing that gets up my nose is how many Aussies are rude when you greet them. When I first came to this country I used to walk up the street and say "good morning" which often got a blank look off the person I had said it to. Then someone told me that G'day was the term used here but that didn't seem to work for me either. It is still pretty true today that a majority of people are too rude to reply, or maybe they are insecure like our cricketers?
Got to go the POMMIE Soccer is on.

Pete
I have thought long and hard before posting any more on this thread. I considered sending a PM to RufflyRustic for advice before typing, but have elected to go it alone, so here goes.......
Pete...... do all inhabitants of this country a favour and please hold your breath awaiting the apology.
Your very lightly veiled insulting insuations against women are very offensive to me, and should be offensive to any intelligent male. It is comments such as yours that make life difficult for a lot of men in todays world. GROW UP!
By the way.... I printed out the entire thread to read in comfort, and cannot for the life of me see how the O.P. was offensive to anyone in any way. He simply asked a question and replied with thanks when given responses.
I value this forum as a place to give and receive quality advice. I am a woodworker by trade, and this forum is simply a hobby outlet for me. I am not impressed at all with the sort of behavior that has been displayed in the last day. NB. anyone holding their breath for me to apologise for the above will have to wait.

As funny as this bickering is to read, I think it's not going to do anyone any good by continuing.
As I see it, MadKad (Welcome, by the way) asked a question, impolite or not, got an answer, got flamed, Fossil apologised on behalf of everyone else, MadKad accepted, and that should have been the end of it!! Wendy should have locked the thread if wanting to intervene, and then sent a PM to those concerned. But what's done is done, but IMHO it should still be locked and everything from Wendy's post deleted as it serves no further purpose!Too many projects, so little time, even less money! Are you a registered member?
