Those holes look fine to me Fred, sometimes the heads of the socket head screws are not perfectly centered so a bit of wiggle room is needed. All the counter bores on my mill are unbelievably way over sized from factory.

I don't own any counter bores, and also use end mills. I have also used the method Pipeclay mentioned about drilling a hole with a drill, then following up with a ground flat bottom drill or a end mill in the pedestal drill. This method also works in the hand drill if you can't get the job to the pedestal drill.

Another way I use, is a round lathe HSS boring bar mounted in a collet with a small piece of HSS sharpened to suit in the 90 degree end. Using this makes it adjustable for any size head, and if the boring bar is the wrong size, you can plan ahead by making the hole smaller to suit the bar, then opening it up after woods.
It would be easy enough to make one the right size by just cross drilling a piece of round bar to take the HSS, with a grub screw in the end to hold it.
I have also used this method for reverse boring and in the hand drill.

I have wanted to buy the 2 sets, but there is always some other tooling that is more needed with the money.
