Ikea LED Spotlight for Lathe, Mill etc?
I'm thinking of using this for my milling machine and lathe.
IKEA | Wall lamps | Wall spotlights | JANSJÖ | Clamp spotlight
I have used these lights before for reading lights and they are very bright and low voltage.
I modified them and mounted them to the bed head for a bed I made and they seem to be very good quality and low voltage as well. They use a M5 thread on the flexible bit once you remove the light from the clip.
Can anyone see any reason not to use one?
All the purpose made machine LED lights are generally quite expensive.
Cheers

I have one, the single LED produces a good strong light and works well. Its a bit broad in its light beam over distance, so I keep up close or move it up close when required. Price wise its a good light and works as well as can be expected, given its a single LED
It is perhaps not the ideal light, but like me you have noticed the real McCoy is expensive. But I got mine on sale for 29.95Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working. — Pablo Picasso

I bought the IKEA model that has a flat base for $29, they sell for $9 in the USA and 9 euro elsewhere, go figure. I converted mine with a magnetic base.

In the USA they buy them by the dozens and fit numerous to their machines. I am happy with mine, just waiting for them to get cheaper. They aren't super bright but only 3w for memory and don't get hot.

Dealextreme have a 3w flexible LED light for $12 delivered, or a slightly more robust one for $19
Allow up to a month for delivery though.
