    A light color will show dirt much more easily than a dark color. Yellow or orange for example looks very nice when new, but extremely untidy when smeared with dark oil and dust. And the in between the webs is not the easiest region to keep clean. One of my lathes is bright orange, the other a dark red between the webs. The latter does not need cleaning that often to look tidy. Chris
