That's an excellent price I might keep my eye out and see if I can get a deal like that. It's always worth having a few runners in the kit. They have been one of those things that I can't find anywhere, online no worries but not from a store. I think I will go with the angle idea in the end but the draws aren't directly under each other so I ned something to stop them tipping forward.

Looks great, I always seem to paint things red and black, not sure why but they go together well.
Just a few weeks ago I finished painting the chuck and rotary table boxes, so I know what your talking about with the house enamel. The draws come up looking good and should see you out.
Nice job.

Same as my brother in law that was in the Navy, everything is battle ship grey, LOL
They would actually throw cans of paint out at times, not sure what the reason was, maybe the lead when it changed over.

Most liquid compounds have a shelf life - we don't worry about it in a home environment but industrially (especially in defence) people do.
Typically things like paint, adhesives and loctite (but even some special greases and oils) must be used within a certain time or there is a risk of the compound not being as effective, setting properly or even just separating out.
If you do get a freebie from an industrial place due to shelf life, you really need to use it reasonably quickly (usually a manufacturer's shelf life is the time they feel comfortable guaranteeing that there will be no issues) but watch out for OH&S. A lot of these industrial products can be tricky to apply safety. The paint we use at work for example is applied there with full ventilated face masks in sealed booths. I'm not touching that one at home...

I built a lathe bench similar to yours (Lathe Bench)
As already mentioned, I found two pieces of angle fine to hold the drawers. I used UHMW Polyethylene tape on the edges which provides a smooth glide.
I have two large drawers for holding chucks, tool posts, etc. I regret not using runners on these as they tend to be hard to pull out and can drop suddenly if pulled out too far.
