Machining QCTP holders
Has anybody done this?
I ended up buying 12mm tools for my AXA QCTP, so all my tools fit the holders now, except the Parting tool. The one that came with the 12mm set is actually 17mm (?) high!
I had a go at milling the slot out but the tool didn't seem to touch it and I didn't really want to push it and end up breaking a an end mill.
I might take it to work tomorrow and see what our machinist says. Maybe the big-#### mill at work can do the job mine can't.

They are probably hardened so you will need a solid carbide or an insert end mill to cut them.

Thanks Dave, yeah, that's what the machinist at work said as well. He's going to do it for me on Monday, so I will be good to go.

Don't the parting tools have extra metal on the bottom that you can machine off to make it fit?, my Ebay 1" parting tool has about 5mm machined off the bottom.

I looked at that, but my parting off tool is only 17mm high and does not have alot of spare material, due to its design. I guess, either way its a compromise.
