Wow it sure looks like he got a truck load of gear.
I'll sure think about helping him lighten his load if needed.

I'd be interested in a .001mm/.002mm or alternately a .0001" in need of attention.

Another Mahr
Picked this up at a car swap meeting recently. It works well and came with the cable and original box but no instructions. I don't want to break anything by fiddling with it so a few questions if I may.
1. What does the knob at the bottom right do?
2. Are the two limit indicators (black pointers) easily adjustable?
For reference I paid $35 for it, the only marks on the indicator body are scuff marks caused by the plastic case.
Thanks, Mm.

You can slide the limit bugs with a bit of gentle finger pressure.
The knob is a calibration feature for zeroing out any error as when comparing to a known dimension. ie gauge block.

You have some amazing luck at these boot / garage sales Phillip. That Zeiss stereo microscope beats all!
The Mahrs are neat. Real easy to pull apart and virtually bulletproof.

Greg, thank you for the info, saves breaking something.
Bob, It is often a long time between things of interest at garage sales and getting more so due to ebay.
I am posting a pic so others know that we are talking about re the microscope.
The unit came with a special base which I removed. Then made up the jointed arm system, one part of the arm fits inside the other and the lot goes to the back of the bench with a suitable cover when not in use. The arms extend over the edge of the bench if necessary. Purchased for just over $100 (don't remember exact amount).
Mm. (Phillip) but I will keep using Mm to save confusion with the many other Phillips on this forum.

With Thanks to Aarron I can answer my own question. The thin pin on the right hand side is infact two pins, the one on the right clamped to the arm which is attached to a micrometer adjustment, the left goes into the box and with a 90degree arm to the dial indicator. The knob on the top appears to adjust the "measuring pressure". The arm out the side is for pulling the pin back to put your part in. You could use it to make sure the diameter of your 7.62 percussion caps was between 0.2130 and .2105.
