How do you measure QC tool posts
Hi guys,
Well fellas, lathe has arrived andI have finished most of the grunt work in the unpacking and assembly.
the lathe came with a Quick change tool post and two QC fittings.I need more of them naturally. The tool post is marked #250-200 .On the E bay I see QC fittings on auction that are marked #250 - 101 and #250- 102,
I am assuming that the 101 may be a straight tool holder, while the other is maybe a boring bar.
Is the 200 series bigger dimensionally than the 100. If not Keeping some previous comments in mind,I may be looking to buy a dovetail cutter for the school mill and chomp up some 4140.
How does one know about the sizing on the dovetail for instance. Are there listed standards some where, say like there is for morse taper sizes?
Yes I am sending a message to Shaw Machinery to see if I can buy more QC tooling holders.
If it helps the dimensions of the basic tool holder block 250 -202 are:
72mm long, 44 high, 29.4 wide.The dovetail opening is 45mm widest, 35.75 narrowest and 10.9 mm deep.
Thanks
Grahame

Hi Grahame,
I recently purchased a Dickson type QC tool holder for my Sheraton Conquest from LPR.
Was at the AIEE engineering show last week in Melb, and picked up a catalogue from Asset Plant. They have nice looking QC tool system in their catalogue which has same numbering as yours.
Price and design look better than mine from LPR - always the way.
Catalogue details may be on thier website www.assetplant.com or you can call them on 03 9791 1194
