    The easiest thing to do is to get some Cane Joins/Couplers and adjusting them to fit your staffs. If you can't locate them at one of the Aussie suppliers they can be ordered from here in Canada. These are brass and would show the brass when put together and these will not show when the staff is put together. With both types you will need to be careful to centre the holes when you drill your pieces.

    Thanks Pete, didn't realise LV had those. Just what I'm after I think. The 1" one is pretty close to spot on the diameter of the shaft.

    Hiking in NZ. We for for a hike, don't they go for a 'tramp'. Had a kiwi mate back in the mid 90ies who was telling us a story how he went out for a 'good tramp' and he wondered why we were all laughing.

    Awaiting Brass although I bought some today $99 for a 1m x 56 mm dia
