Software was Rhino and rhinocam and yes photo was taken of key then dropped in as back ground and then traced in large size, then scaled to size. CAM software was used for creating the cut program for the CNC mill.
The main point of this key was for when she goes swimming as she take the minimum stuff with her in to the pool as she is worried that it might get pinched. This way there can not just push a button to identify the car and now the key does not even have the car logo on it. As for starting the car I just try it as scottyd suggested it does not start the engine. This will make it even harder to pinch.

More importantly, what the heck are you buying that comes in a 40ft container? Pink paint?

Or is this one of those loan arrangements?

Another small project, however this time I know what it's for

I was asked if I could make an emblem to go onto a custom built car. A Kingswood (I think) with a Super Charged 202.

    202.jpg
    115mm wide x 41mm high and approx 4mm thick

First try the machining took WAY longer than I initially thought it would. Used a 1.5mm single flute carbide endmill so went SLOW 65mm/min .5mm per pass 3000rpm
It took a little under 4 hours to cut
Polished it up with a Dremel type tool (1 1/2 hours) and took it out to the powder coaters. I haven't got that one back yet.

Second attempt (this one) I pushed the bit up to 130mm/min and changed the cut path a little. This bought the machining time back to 1 hr 45 min. I'm fairly certain that this is about the maximum speed I would get away with being such a fine endmill. Went out and purchased a buffing wheel for the grinder, the polishing only took 15 minutes this time. This one I filled with coloured epoxy then sanded it back flush.
There are a few blemishes in the epoxy but not too bad for a first try. Next time I think I would use a vacuum chamber to remove the air bubbles.
No chance of making any money from this venture but sure has been a fun project.
Hopefully the bloke its for likes it as he wasn't totally sold on the design ...
