Ken. If you were a bit closer to Perth, I'd give you one of my GMF grinders so you could use the wheel that Ray G uses and be done with it

Had a closer look at the Seller's ad. Seems some holders also come with the purchase.
I'll go you halves if you are going to buy some. I see he has other smaller quantities.
Leave it up to you. I've not seen this 3M system before.

I was thinking of two lots and halving the postage as we would need 2 sets of chucks.
Or I'll buy a big set and you can get the smaller set, but the smaller set doesnt have the scotchbrite buffing discs(from what I saw).

Hi Stu,
Reckon I'll let it go for now. If you do proceed, see if you can get in touch with the seller privately, and buy direct thus saving on the 20% VAT, and 12% eBay fees.
Just a thought.

I'm in for a set of those Ruloc discs. How do you want to proceed?

This is a cheap alternative - and reasonably versatile:
the 2 terrys - Blowfly Sander
Refills with standard scotchbrite pads

Ken, let me know if you want a scotchbrite wheel. I am ordering some things from Wholesale Tool right now...the 6" X 1 X 1 is $31.50. They have other sizes of course. 8" is around $55

Greg I'll just order a couple and give you a yell when they get here? and we can sort out how to get them to you then.
Suit you?

Done.
I'll give it a couple more hours to see if anyone else chimes in, then order them.
Stuart
p.s. Ken I doubt he is charging VAT but I can only ask

Hi Stuart,
Thanks for the link, I have an angle grinder attachment that I might be able to make work with those.
Any idea as to maximum rpm for the 50mm diameters. (Edit: I found it on the 3m website, 24,000 rpm max )
I wonder if I could re-work it for a roloc mounting?
With all those pads I'd be set for at least a week or two...
Regards

From memory we have used them on die grinders. So it would be fast, I'll try and get a number.
I'd think you could modify the holders to fit that. Is it M5?

Ok, I've finished checking, I'm pretty sure I can just cut a thread on the standard 3M Roloc arbor to suit the angle grinder attachment.
The arbor looks like this, and for what it's worth, the 2" and 3" are different. Not sure exactly how they differ..
So, count me in for an assortment of the 2" ones. Let me know when you want some dollars.
Regards
Ray

Struth, I leave the forum for five minutes, come back, and all hell's broken loose.
Greg, I'll put my hand up for an 8". I better rephrase that, please put me down for an 8" dia wheel.

I reckon the thread on those Roloc sanding pads is similar to the thread on the nipple of a tube of silicone etc. As mentioned, about 10 dia x 10 long roughly.
