I have no idea why that last post formatted like that. Maybe because I was cut & pasting from Excel.
Its 10 o'clock at night, I haven't been home in 3 days. I'll sort it out tomorrow.
Regards Phil

Its fantastic to see that there are scraping classes available in Oz. I just finished attending one here in Oslo and we had to fly the instructor in from USA at considerable cost. We ran a 3 day basic class where we covered manual and machine scraping, flaking and measuring. There was also an extra 2 days fo measuring and machine reconditioning.
If I ever get back home to Australia I would love to continue learning about scraping. It's a strange, satisfying sickness and after the first surface plate or straight edge gets scraped in you really become hooked.
Paul.

I agree, you keep accumulating equipment and (hopefully) skills. Then you can tackle things you thought impossible. If only you have the time..... BTW can you bring back a Sabb 30HP gearbox and controllable pitch propellor with you? The engine would be nice too but I *really* want a CPP. They come up in Norway but never in Australia. I'm thinking about my (next) boat.... PDW

Just a quick question for our hangers-on (Being SimonL, Steamwhisperer, Ray Gardiner and jhovel), which class are you guys actually attending - 1, 2 or both?

I would like to drop in to both, my time permitting. If that is OK? Just to meet and greet and help out with the catering....
Cheers,
Joe

Hi guys,
I was going to PM Phil as I have just sorted myself out regarding the dates but since it was brought up in this thread I may as well sound it out here.
Due to work and family commitments, I am only available on Sunday 14th. So I'm happy to cook lunch on that Sunday and chew the fat with fellow scrapers during lunch.
Cheers,
SimonGirl, I don't wanna know about your mild-mannered alter ego or anything like that." I mean, you tell me you're, uh, super-mega-ultra-lightning babe? That's all right with me. I'm good. I'm good.

Hi Scotty,
At the moment both and probably the Saturday but seeing as how Simon is going on the Sunday to the Sept. one I might try for both days just to catch up.
He is a top bloke.
Phil

You're too kind Phil!
Looking forward to catching up.
Edit: On a side note, I would love to attend one of the diners on the final night, Unfortunately I'm working night shift on 14th so that's out and on the 5th October I'm working dayshift so it would be a mad dash from work. I'm keen to meet as many people as I can!

G'day Paul.
I've been talking with Richard King over the past 2 days. He told me about Dale. (For the others. Dale is an Aussie living in Scotland, who went to Oslo for the course. Both his parents where killed in a car accident, this past weekend). He had to fly back to Heathrow, to meet his wife and get his passport, before flying home. He had to pull out mid class.
Richard mentioned he was proud of you for jumping in with Jan to get him extracted out of there. Remarkably sad situation, on what is normally a great weekend.
You did good.
Regards Phil.

Apologies if I have missed it somewhere, I did a few quick searches and couldn't find it. What is the address of the venue? I didn't see it when I read through the whole thread earlier although a few more pages have been added since then. Just looking at booking accommodation etc.

I just didnt want to reveal any information about Phil that he didnt want revealed publically. I found his address in a search, so If its a problem Phil - let me know!
The venue is Phil's workshop:
24 Bostock Court
Thomastown, Vic.
The saturday will begin at 7 for introductions and a chin wag. Class will begin at 7:30. For anyone travelling any distance from outside melbourne, that will likely mean youll need accomodation for the friday night and possibly the sunday night too. I think Phil mentioned a good motel a few pages back that previous scrapers recommended.
