Now this is a shaper
Hi,
My son came home tonight with some pictures of a shaper he found stashed away where he was called out for auto elec work. He is a bit over 6ft tall so it's a huge shaper even if it is on blocks.
Of course my eyes lit up when I seen it and it would dwarf my 24 inch Alba in size. It looks to have a hydraulic copying attachment and a universal table.
Hopefully he will be getting some more pictures tomorrow.

I don't think it's available yet, I am hoping my son can get a few more pictures and it's makers name tomorrow.
Trouble is I don't think it would be much under 3 ton, maybe 2 1/2, still a lot of weight to move around. I am supposed to be chasing a surface grinder not another shaper, LOL

A real shaper. worth setting up a slab of steel and putting on a big cut just to hear the chips going ting clunk as they come off.

That will be a nice addition to the workshop, if the price is right.... I'm eyeing off the Okuma LB15 behind it...
How does the hydraulic copy thing work.. does it just control the downfeed?

I will Stuart thanks.
Talking about the table I was just about to upload this one as he sent another email I missed.
They are massive castings, no shortage of cast iron there.

The other thing I just noticed on the pics is that it has the vertical downfeed on the head too. That is one flash shaper.

Sure is one big machine. Still has dovetail's on the ram though, i would have thought square for a machine that big. I like the tilting table, top rocks and the whole lot swivels. Handy!
What i want to know is that a planner bed we can see in the background of the 4th pic?
Edit, no its not, its just a timber bench, the end can be seen in the first pic.1915 17"x50" LeBlond heavy duty Lathe, 24" Queen city shaper, 1970's G Vernier FV.3.TO Universal Mill, 1958 Blohm HFS 6 surface grinder, 1942 Rivett 715 Lathe, 14"x40" Antrac Lathe, Startrite H225 Bandsaw, 1949 Hercus Camelback Drill press, 1947 Holbrook C10 Lathe.
