Old video of building a Locomotive in 1930's
Hi All
I came across a video of building a steam locomotive in the 1930's on a forum that I browse occasionally.
I haven't seen it before so I hope you enjoy.

Thank you Dennis,
Sadly I never discussed with my grandfather, a fitter at the WAGR Midland Workshops, what he did during the forty or so years he worked there. Your linked clip provides some insight.

Princess loco
The loco featured in that movie was the subject of the first ROVEX electric scale model 00 gauge ( sold as TRIANG ) in the early 1950's . The early examples were molded in acetate plastic which tended to deform into banana like shapes . Around 1955 they changed over to poly plastic . The models are marvels of miniature engineering with sintered bronze floating bushes for the 3 pole DC motor armature . At the time the scratch build hobby train enthusiasts turned their noses up at these TOYS but later on Triang took over the whole scene and swallowed Hornby up with a merger . Mike

There's some fabulous clips on YouTube re steam trains.
These clips are quite long but you don't have to watch all of it.
