Weldon Shank
I have a job coming up where I have to cut a few largish holes in 10 mm steel. I have a Fein magnetic base drill yet no broach. A ring around the tool shops told me that no one carries Fein broche so I ran Fein directly. After a long wait and the explanation that I should ask their dealers because they are not a shop I was told that the sizes I need, 28 and 35 have to be ordered from Germany....Fantastic. So I got myself an adaptor from the Fein quickin drive to a different drive called Weldon shank. Now I said to myself, I am set, I can buy any broach from any supplier ... yea right. I ask for a broach with Weldon shank and get blank looks. A search shows Weldon shank broach with a square sort of drive. On Hares and Forbes website however the drive on the Broach they carry is everything but square, you have two faces with the other two round, two flat faces with two holes in the others and so on..... Can anyone please explain what is this mystery and where to buy this stupid cutters? Your reply is very much appreciated.

I see those all the time in industrial supply places, you are looking for fein rota broach right?

Or here's the Weldon type.

The ones from H&F are 19mm and have flats as well... http://www.machineryhouse.com.au/D9535

PS It's Broach, not Broche... maybe that will help with the searches

Thank you for that, I wonder if those from Machinery house fit in the Fein without the adaptor? They do have a hole similar to the Fein quickin driving system. ... And what about the "Weldon shank", how come if I ask for a Weldon shank I get nowhere?

I don't know if it would fit or not, It would be worth a try, the dimple looks to be in about the right place.. it wouldn't cost anything to try, because the H&F one will fit the Weldon adaptor anyway... if the diameter is right.
Fein Quickin to Weldon ......................................... H&F version
As far as I know the weldon style just means it has a locking flat. maybe more than one..
